We're excited about Goldenvoice's First City Festival in Monterey August 24th and 25th. . We told you a little bit about it earlier this week. Here's a bit more. I first saw Blitzen Trapper opening up for Fleet Foxes in 2009, and they've been on my radar ever since. Folky, raw, and tender come to mind. Father John Misty

Father John Misty exudes sex appeal, and has a phenomenal stage presence. His band is tight, his moves are quirky and he's not to be missed. I'll be wearing his new perfume, "Misty", which arrived in my mailbox yesterday. Beach House

Monterey seems like the perfect place to see Beach House perform their soothing, hazey indie lullabies. Dr Dog

Lo-fi sound and pop sensibilities combine in this Beatles-meets-Beach-Boys indie underdog. Modest Mouse

Modest Mouse canceled their entire European and North American tour at the beginning of the summer to focus on recording their next album. That is all but one date. That one date is First City Fest. DON'T MISS EM!
