Arcade Fire Win Best Album Grammy

Yeah, we’re a little late to this, but I didn’t actually watch the Grammys, so didn’t know until this morning. The Grammys are historically pretty clueless, generally only nominating the most popular artists and then awarding the most popular of the bunch. Either that or giving awards to Steely Dan.

Last night, in an upset shocker, Arcade Fire pulled off a win in the Best Album category for the wonderful The Suburbs. Interestingly though, they lost Best Alternative Album to The Black Keys (whose Brothers is also a fantastic album).

It’s been great watching their rise over the past several years, and it’s amazing to see an indie band that have worked hard to get where they’re at get accepted by the main stream.

The video of them playing “Ready to Start” after their win is wonderful. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anybody that happy. (video got pulled due to copyright reasons)

Also, the Who is Arcade Fire Tumblr is pretty great. A collection of baffled tweets, including from Rosie O’Donnell
