The Ting Tings at the Wiltern

It seems like every band that scores a coveted slot in an iPod commercial quickly becomes the next buzz band, literally overnight. All of a sudden Myspace wants to put you on tour and teenagers want to illegally download your record on their moms computer. Well, that has been the path for the Ting Tings at least.

They were booked to headline a solid tour along with equally buzzy Santogold, Mates of State and Low vs. Diamond. I, unfortunately, wasnt allowed to photograph anyone but the Tings, due to the Wilterns ridiculous media paranoia, so those are all I have to show.

The show was all around great though. The trio comprising The Ting Tings includes front woman/ladyfox, Katie White (no relation to Jack), on drums and occasional vox, Jules De Martino and ondrums also, a dysfunctional DAT machine. They got through the cranky DATs early problems and treated the packed house of tweenie-boppers to a lively and energetic set. If there was any dialogue between songs, it was brief as they were anxious to tear off into the next song and get the kids home before curfew.

Id like to recommend that anyone attending a show at The Wiltern pay a visit to Mr. Pizza Factory before hand. They have some of the most interesting and tasty pizza (sweet potato paste?) and pitchers of cheap beer!
