Jamie T. at the Troubador

Sometimes I just wish I had a Delorean with a flux capacitor in my garage so I could go back in time to catch bands like the Specials and English Beat when they were coming out a few decades back, but since I don’t have a Delorean seeing musicians like Jamie T, with his band The Pacemakers, breaking out is just fine with me.

So when Matt handed me Panic Prevention, Jamie T’s new CD, when I was at his house in LB filming for the Ice Cream Man doc, it resulted in Jamie T’s music being blasted on my many LA drives the week prior to his show at the Troubadour.

Had first heard of the young English man at SXSW 07 and got to catch his show there with a full band. This guy was extremely fun to watch on stage and the same can be said about the show at the Troubadour. With a packed floor Jamie’s first words were telling the people on the balcony to come down otherwise he would not start playing, and so they did; what a great way to start a show. And, like in Texas almost year before, I had just as much fun shooting/watching/listening to a guy who is all about having fun on stage with a few of his friends, singing about everyday life and doing what a band should always be doing just having a blast performing.
