On May 1st (5/01 Day) most Levi’s employees take the day off to volunteer in community events around the country. We loaded up or new push cart with a bunch of ice cream and headed to Santa Monica where dozens of volunteers were helping clean up the beach. After the cleanup the volunteers returned to the Levi’s store on the Promenade where they were greeted with some great tunes, free ice cream, and other goodies.

Events like these were taking place in New York and San Francisco as well. Levi’s employees volunteer in more than 60 community involvement teams across six continents. It’s a great way to help motivate people to help others. Levi’s has always been a step ahead of the game when it comes to being social responsible and helping others. As far back as 1983 they have been helping to fight HIV/AIDS by offering education and health services for employees and their families. They continue their commitment to responsible business practices and make sure all their factories and suppliers around the world are held to these guidelines as well.

It was nice to have Gooch, Rachel, Matthias, and recent crew member Vix around to help with slinging cream, taking pics, and dancing to the DJ. Hopefully we’ll be able to find a way to get the pushcart back down to Santa Monica during weekends this summer to give away even more cream. I have a feeling things get a bit crazy down there and of course we’re always down to take part in a little craziness.
