Excitement was in the cool crisp air of downtown Tucson as the crowd filed in the historic Rialto Theater to enjoy a great concert. The opening band, Lavender Diamond was energetic, fun and the lead singer perky and sweet. The theater was packed, complete with full balcony seats, amphitheater seats and filled standing room up front. Few left their cherished places at intermission, wanting to keep the best place possible for The Decemberists. The all age’s crowd was not disappointed. Audience interaction was great. Fans sent up a large frog hat, a beret and a sailor’s hat that Lavender Diamond wore throughout their set. It was a great opening for the Decemberists.

One of the young ladies yelled out at the beginning of the Decemberists “I love you, Colin,” a thought shared by the majority of the fans. This band was pure joy to listen to and their instrument precision was wonderful. The Cranes Wife backdrop was beautiful, and the vocals robust. Tucson loves you Decemberists & Lavender Diamond. The encore applause will only get stronger. Come back soon!
