When you see Kirsten Dunst in line prior to a show, you are in for a special night. It was a packed house Friday night at the El Rey for a sold out She Wants Revenge show. It seemed like weeks ago when I met up with Timothy at the SWR Troubadour show. SWR rocked the house that night, and it would be interesting to see if we would be in for a repeat performance.

Monsters are Waiting hit the stage first with a pleasant blend of Jenny Lewis like vocals with a Stellastarr* edge to it. Annalee was animated as usual. The crowd greeted them warmly as they played “ha ha” and “Christine”. They will also be playing again with She Wants Revenge in March for the next sold out show at the Henry Fonda.

Ringside was up next . They consist of Scott Thomas and actor Baltazar Getty. They also put together a good set with “Tired of Being Sorry” and “Struggle”. Brian Bell of Weezer fame gave them a helping hand on keyboards and guitars. FYI, Scott wears a spine brace because he has a rare spinal disease .

She Wants Revenge came on with a special treat prior to the live show. The audience was treated to their debut video for “Tear You Apart” which was directed by Joaquin Phoenix who was also in the crowd. The video was really good, but who knows if it will get the MTV exposure because it was dark. The band proceeded to play the same set as the Troubadour show but with a stronger conviction and more emotion. Avoiding the rock star cliches, they did not leave for an encore and played straight thru ending it with “Tear you Apart” that had the whole crowd screaming for more.

Since the Galaxy theatre is 15mins from my house it was my duty as a fan to go to Saturday night to see She Wants Revenge once more. Ringside was absent from the show but that left me with a longer set from Monsters are Waiting which was a bonus. Annalee was in rare form and got the crowd worked up for another stunning performance by She Wants Revenge. As an added bonus, I got a signed promotional photo of SWR on the way out. Not a bad weekend if I say so myself. See ya at the next show.
