The Colour, Cold War Kids, and Tangram at Spaceland

I’d been hearing a bunch about The Colour, so I made my way down to Spaceland to check it out on a recent night during their month long residency. I showed up a little late, having had to park up the hill, and was greeted by Cold War Kids rockin’ well into their set. This was another band I’d been meaning to see and was sorry I hadn’t made it to the show a little sooner. I caught two songs and was looking for more maybe next time.

Next on, The Colour pulled the crowd right up to the stage when they kicked into their set with a packed house on hand. I’ve come to understand they’ve been working on their sound quite a bit during the past year, but what I was hearing now was roots based rock-n-roll with just the right amount of swagger! With a room full of fans in attendance it can make all that business go down a lot easier; the swagger that is. With a 45 minutes plus set including a call back to the stage, The Colour never let the energy slip into the red. Solid all the way through. Look for the Colour in the coming months after they return from Nashville where they are working on their new album. I’ll bet it’ll be full of some great stuff.

To close out the night, Tangram brought things down nicely while turning a few fresh ears in their direction with a well-rounded set. The sound a bit more subdued than the Colour, but just right to close things out on another cool night out at Spaceland.
