Islands and Subtitle at The Echo

What a treat this night turned out to be! I showed up just before the band hit the stage and had already missed the opener, Subtitle. Well, I would not be disappointed, my initial response was to the warm, rich sound islands had. With the violin, horn (what is the name?), five string bass all sharing The Echo’s tight stage, you could feel all these guys were on fire from the start. Perhaps “mellow” at times, yet still HOT! Again, the instrumentation held the sound together most elegantly. A few instrument changes here and there (see photos) and Islands moved through their set to an explosive finale with flying guitars rock-n-roll style not once but three times (see photos) with the heat only rising. (see photos)

To my good fortune, Subtitle joined the band on stage about mid set for a tune and returned for during the encore for a bit of freestyle jam. All good fun! To another fantastic night!

peace
