Hot Snakes Last LA Show

The Hot Snakes played one of their last shows at the Troubadour Sunday, August 7th. We walked in the door a few minutes before they hit the stage. We missed The Husbands and The Heartaches. So we found a good spot to stand in the sold out and very packed club. The guys came out and kicked it off with “I Hate the Kids”. They went through songs from all of their releases. It was like a Hot Snakes’ Greatest Hits show. They didn’t stop to even let the crowd cheer in between songs, just went bam! right into another great song. They played for over a good hour and walked off the stage. As the crowd cheered for more they came back and started to play. After about three of their songs Rick stepped up to the mic and said “Thanks for coming out to our last L.A. show.” The crowd booed and then the band started into Drive Like Jehu’s “Luau” and the crowd went nuts. After playing what seemed to be a 20 minute version of the song they put their instruments down and walked off the stage for what was the last Hot Snakes show I will ever see and one of the best live shows I have seen in my 31 years of living. But on a good note I did see a lot of video cameras around taping the show. Let’s hope we get a DVD soon.
