Good Audio For Computers?

This is a post I’ve been meaning to get up for a while, not sure why it took so long. For years I’ve been trying to find an inexpensive way to get good sound out of my computer. I used to have some decent Bose computer speakers but they just plugged into my headphone jack and I was never that impressed.

I asked my friend, Jeff Tyo, what he recommended and it didn’t take him long to shoot back an email recommending Audioengine speakers and a Music Streamer DAC. The Digital Audio Converter plugs into a USB port and bypasses the soundcard in your computer to give you much-improved audio quality. On the back side of the small device there are two “RCA” analog cables which you can plug in a pair of powered speakers. I’ve been extremely happy with the pair of Audioengine’s A2 speakers I purchased. They’re just a smidge bigger than my old speakers but sound infinitely better. If you think about how much time you spend at a computer and how much you love music (if you’re reading this I hope you’re a music fan) I can’t recommend enough that you drop the $350 or so to rock this setup or something similar. I’ve been happy with the service and selection from Music Direct but it’s also good to check on ebay for deals on the speakers, there’s a set of A5’s up there now for $325 which is a great deal.

Let me know if this setup works for you or if there’s something else you’d recommend

I should definitely look into this. The KRK are good too.
