FYF Fest 2010

FYF, yes, I’m sure plenty of other people have come up with their own meanings for these three simple letters but I’m going to throw one more into the ring, FYF = Fun Yes Fun! Sure, there could have been more food, more water, more beer, a bit more organization, etc. but for the price and the quality of acts playing, complaining isn’t in my nature.

The day started a little rough for the press, no passes for an hour and a half while waiting in line in the blazing sun isn’t a good start but it was more than made up for once everything was sorted and the bands got into the swing of things. That’s what we’re all there for right? Good music, amazing weather, beautiful fans and fun times. Yes, Fun times were had by my crew and I saw plenty of others sharing that vibe.

Highlights of the day included sets by The Blow, AA Bondy, Man Man and The Rapture. Booty dancing ladies with Big Freedia, the Warpaint ladies killing it, The Goat covering DMX, Ariel Pink being kind of creepy yet amazing and Sleep destroying everything in sight. And of course, slinging the cream was as easy as giving away free Ice Cream on a hot day, fancy that! Check out the photos, relive the moments and add some comments of your own adventures.

I look forward to this event pretty much all year and will definitely be attending as long as it continues. The Ice Cream crew would like to send a special shout out to Ben and Jerry’s for the stock of cream and constant support, Mitch at Green Truck On the Go for hooking us up with amazing veggie burgers, quesadillas, wraps and delish lemonade, Sailor Jerry Rum for tolerating errant football throws and supplying good booze to the masses, The Greasy Weiner for good dogs and awkward bikini clad situations and most importantly Sean and everyone at FYF for having us out and putting on a GREAT event. Here’s to many more years to come!

damn that looks and sounds like it was a great time. Long live Fun Yes Fun fest. Glad I got to see some of the bands this summer, otherwise I’d be bummed I missed it
